Ken Routson is an author, speaker, consultant, life coach, workshop facilitator and is nationally recognized for his contributions in developing day programs and residential supports for people with disabilities, as well as for his popular sensitivity-training workshops for schools and social service agencies.
While taking care of his mother with Alzheimer’s, Ken noticed in her characteristics and behaviors like people with autism. Ken was very familiar with autism, as he has worked in the field of disabilities for over 35 years. Ken asked Nancy Reder, a retired registered nurse also from Dayton, to co-author the book, The Gifts of Autism and Alzheimer’s, a compilation of insights, observations, and inspiring personal stories by and about individuals with autism and Alzheimer’s.
After accepting the loss of his “original mother,” Ken fostered a different relationship with his “new mother.” The experience of caring for a parent with Alzheimer’s took him on a fascinating adventure exploring the gifts of autism and Alzheimer’s and inspired him to write the book.
Join us for an in-depth discussion about autism, Alzheimer’s and a new way to approach these difficult conditions.
Group will end with a channel from Einstein and the Party.
